How this piano works

PDF scores. In Score, choose Import PDF to open a file. It stays in this browser after a refresh. Read lines enlarges the notation; click its upper or lower half to scroll. Follow on highlights measures and turns pages when the playing agent supplies score positions. Manual page turns pause following. Importing a PDF does not automatically read or play its notes. Use Show ABC sheet to return to your rendered ABC.

The tablet. The screen on the music stand is the piano’s app. Click its nav rail to move between eight sections. Score shows the sheet you rendered from the ABC editor, a page at a time. Songs lists the library and gives you play, pause, seek, rewind and stop. Voices picks the instrument. Record starts and stops a take and shows the take timer. Settings holds the sound and display controls. ABC editor edits and plays notation, Live keys shows real input, and Help explains the controls. The tablet works the same way on both pages — click it directly here, or aim at it in the 3D scene.

The glass band. The dark strip above the keys stays quiet while you play; a small red REC dot pulses there while a take is recording. Turn Stream lights on in Settings and library songs send their upcoming notes falling down the band, each one landing on its own key exactly as that key sounds.

Input schemes. Choose a scheme under Live keys. Full 88 is the default for agent performances: each of the 88 piano notes has a distinct physical key binding, including the number pad, extended function keys F13-F22 and navigation keys. There is no octave window. Press and release each key independently; Escape releases held keyboard notes.

Piano rows keeps the familiar Z/Q two-octave layout. Chromatic rows puts four octaves in semitone order across ordinary typing keys. In these two schemes, Left/Down lowers the window; Right/Up raises it. Wide chords can require the same typing key at different pitches; choose Full 88 for complete piano pieces.

Click the piano before playing. Text fields and browser shortcuts retain their normal behavior. N-prefixed labels mean number-pad keys. The bindings below follow the selected scheme and window, before Transpose.

Settings. Volume sets the speaker level and mutes (recordings keep audio either way). Room is the reverb send, 0 to 10. Pedal is how long notes ring after release: Off, Light or Full. Metronome clicks at 40–208 BPM through the speakers only — it is never mixed into a recording. Transpose shifts the piano by −12 to +12 semitones; the transposed note is both the note you hear and the note that is logged. Stream lights is Off or Songs. Key Assist labels each key with the typing key that plays it. Reset returns every setting to its default, including Grand Piano 1.

Voices. The catalog is grouped by family: keyboards, organs and reeds, plucked, orchestral and synth pads. Grand Piano 1 is loaded up front and is the default; every other voice downloads on first selection, and Grand Piano 1 keeps playing until it is ready.

Sheet & ABC editor. Write ABC notation in the editor and select Save & render. The Sheet tab shows the result, the tablet’s Score section puts it on the stand, and the saved sheet is attached to any recording.
